Far from the usual tourist cycling itineraries, natural and cultural treasures open up, with well-marked routes traversed by a multitude of cycle paths. You won’t need Fausto Coppi’s legs to enjoy a biking holiday here.
It always pays to get on your bike and discover new places, with the wind in your hair and at a slow and leisurely pace. As in the case of these cycle paths, sometimes long and tranquil roads that see little traffic and allow you to cross large areas. There are quite a few to take advantage of in Italy and we have selected some of the most scenic ones for you.
VenTo
Literally standing for Veneto and Piedmont, this cycle path follows the course of the river Po crossing Italy longitudinally.
Pusteria and Venosta Valley (Vinschgau) cycle paths in Alto Adige and South Tyrol
The first lies in the heart of the Dolomites and covers a distance of 105 km. We recommend breaking it down into 3 stages. The second is famous for the surreal bell tower emerging solitary from Lake Resia (Reschensee).
Fiori cycle path in Liguria
Follows a recently abandoned section of the old Genoa – Ventimiglia railway, currently covering a distance of 24 km along the coast.
Dolomites cycle path
Follows the route of the railway line connecting Calalzo di Cadore to Dobbiaco, decommissioned since the 1960s.
Mincio cycle path in Lombardy
From Peschiera del Garda to Mantua, the floating city: a 45 km route on the embankment of the Mincio river. The uniqueness of this location is characterised precisely by the water, as you cycle your way along the river.
Val Rendena bike trail
The Val Rendena offers 25 km of bike trails where you can find easy stretches like Ponte Pia to Pinzolo and difficult ones like the one from Villa Rendena to Pineta-Carisolo. The trail runs mainly along the banks of the river Sarca and blends perfectly into the alpine landscape of the Adamello-Brenta nature park.
Val di Sole bike trail
The track starts directly from the Ortles-Cevedale mountain range and runs almost entirely alongside the path of the river Noce. The length of the path is 35 km from Cogolo di Pejo to Val di Sole famous for its beautiful fruit orchards. The total elevation gain is 565m. You can choose different routes or use the train+bike or “bici bus” (bike-bus) service to complete the itineraries or go back up the valley.
