More than 100 fortresses, castles and noble mansions characterise the landscape of Appiano and its surroundings along the Wine Route: the largest wine-growing area in the whole of Alto Adige. There are also plenty of the epic ascents that characterise this area; you’ll climb the Mendola Pass, an “hors categorie” climb to do at least once in your life.
