If you want to experience hell’s gate, do Gavia in the summer and the Tonal Pass in winter”.
An important link between the two northern regions, Lombardy and Trentino-South Tyrol. This climb cannot be missed on any cyclist’s bucket list: 15 kilometres and an ascent of 900 metres with an average gradient of 6%. The ascent starts from Ossana. The first few kilometres are normal up to the village of vermilion. Then the most challenging part begins and shortly after, on the right you can see the remains of the Great War including Fort Strino.
When the last 2 remaining kilometres to the top are almost flat, you can admire the Presanella glacier. Once you reach the pass you will find another Great War relic, the military memorial: a crypt which preserves niches of the fallen soldiers during the war
