San Pellegrino Pass

Looking at it on paper, the San Pellegrino Pass might be considered a minor pass compared its more illustrious neighbours, the Pordoi and the Sella Pass. Nevertheless, the constant elevation changes are felt immediately and the pedals don’t seem to turn as effortlessly as they did in the milder stretches at the bottom of the valley. The long straight sections are the characteristic traits of this ascent, the switchbacks are in fact a mirage, like the end of the climb, which does not stop at the sign that reads “Passo San Pellegrino”, continuing for another kilometre further up.
