Description

The “Colle della Scala” Tour is a classic ride of our valley, both for locals and for those who come from further afield; it includes the “Colle della Scala”, Montgenevre pass and, in this version, the “Colle del Sestriere”.
The “Colle della Scala” (Col de l’Echelle in french) it is not a famous climb or that long, measuring 7kms over a 500m climb, but without doubt one of the most scenic rides in this area.
On the French side the descent takes you down to Val Clarée, a very beautiful valley close to the storic town of Briancon. You then climb up to the Col du Montgenevre, with a 500m ascent to then descend down toward Cesana, passing through the old tunnels with a panoramic view of the S.Gervasio canyon.
From Cesana you take the lower road up to Sestriere and the loop takes you back down to Cesana on the SS23 road. This is the hardest climb of the day which takes you up to the 2035m of Sestriere over a 8km ride.
From Cesana you descend back down to Oulx.
