Ascent which links Val Rendena to Val di Sole.
Madonna di Campiglio evokes the memory of Marco Pantani.
For us Italians, Madonna di Campiglio means Marco Pantani. Since it is right here that the pirate crossed the finishing line for the last time wearing the pink jersey after his irresistible ascent from Pinzolo, Val Rendena up to 1682m a.s.l. on Madonna di Campiglio. The first few kilometres of ascent are fairly ridable with gradients never higher than 6%. It is in the last 5 km that the road begins to get steeper where Pantani managed to maintain an average hourly speed of just under 30 on gradients close to 7%. Are you ready to conquer the jewel of the Brenta Dolomites?
