Mostly on secondary asphalt roads with uphill and downhill stretches and changing landscape.
A long but not very demanding trail as there are no long climbs. It crosses the central area of Varese from Lake Maggiore to the village of “Castiglione Olona” named “Isola di Toscana in Lombardia” and the archaeological park “longobardo di Castelprio” (UNESCO sites).
Generally, there are many uphill and downhill stretches, in fact every 10 km there is 100 m of climb. Along the route you will also come to 4 other lakes besides Maggiore: Lake Monate, Lake Comabbio, Lake Biandronno and Lake Varese. You might not have thought that there would be so many lakes in such a small area, true?
