Forcola and Bernina are perhaps the two most famous and well-known Passes in Livigno, the first allowing you to dominate the town, while the second connects Switzerland with the Engadine valley, 80 km long and one of Europe’s highest inhabited valleys.
The itinerary departs from Livigno to reach the Bernina Pass, the Swiss mountain pass which connects the Poschiavo Valley with the Engadine at 2,323 m above sea level. There are very few km of flat ground before facing the first obstacle, the Livigno Pass: a distance of 14 km with regular gradients around the 4 to 5% mark. After crossing the border, the next challenge is the Bernina Pass. The return journey will be made along the same road. The wind that often dominates these places will be your worst enemy.
