Offer details
The adventure begins towards the military fortification of the late ‘800 of the Fort Central (2000 m), near the Colle …… ..
The “Via del Sale” is the ancient road used by merchants for the trade in sea salt between the merchant routes of the Mediterranean and northern Italy. Open since the snow has melted and therefore the opening and closing dates may undergo some changes.
After a transfer with our shuttle bus from Villa Giada Resort to Limone Piemonte and a short stop pedaling towards Colle della Perla, Colle della Boaria, we will cross a lunar landscape of rocks that characterize the group of Marguareis. Arrived at Colle dei Signori, we begin a climb of about 3 km to reach the Passo di Framagal with a panoramic view up to the Ligurian Sea. The Colle delle Selle Vecchie introduces the alpine vegetation forest of the Parco delle Navette, at the exit the view of Monesi and the Statue of the Redeemer at an altitude of 2164 m asl, which we reach uphill for about 7 km and continue on the ridge to reach the Rifugio La Terza where we will dine with the White Kitchen menu, the ancient kitchen of the shepherds who lived in the huts, and spend the night.
The following day after having enjoyed the sunrise at 2000m altitude the Tanarello hill is waiting for us, going down 6 km on the French side that will take us back to Italy on the Colleardente pass. Continuing on the right we will cross the Upper Valle Argentina for about 10 km of ascent to Bassa di Marta where we can admire the remains of World War II barracks. With a small detour of 2 km on our route we reach the Balconies of Marta, a fortified complex in the cave of the Western Alpine Wall dating back to 1940, from which we see the entire Val Roja and in the distance our starting point The Central Fort. Waiting for us on the itinerary is Mount Gray where there is another large barracks overlooking the Colle Melosa and the Tenarda dam which we will reach with a descent of about 5 km, the last stretch of dirt road.
At Melosa hill we stop for a coffee before facing the paved road towards Molini di Triora for 17 Km. At this point we take the valley bottom for 25 km direction Arma di Taggia where we will enter the cycle path along the sea to return to Villa Giada Resort .
