Valpolicella and the upper Lessinia
The route unwinds immersed in the lower Valpolicella, cycling through the vineyards where some of the finest Venetian wines are produced (Valpolicella, Amarone, Recioto), and the region of the upper Lessinia, where you will have the opportunity to admire some beautiful historic villas. One of the cycling highlights of this route is the climb that begins around the 30th km, known as the “Cannibal Uphill Trial” (named after Eddy Merckx): the climb covers a distance of 9.5 km with a difference in altitude of 592 m and slopes ranging from 8% to 12%, in some peaks even reaching 15%.
Once you have made your way back into town, you can finish off the route in the splendid setting of the Torricelle, the hilly area that dominates Verona.
