A trail for expert mountain bikers through Assisi and its surroundings

Description

Start from the main square in Assisi and follow the signs for Mount Subasio. You will immediately have to tackle a 6 km climb, so we recommend first a quick warm-up through the centre of Assisi. The first part of the climb is the most demanding, it is a bumpy dirt road with slopes, which in some points reaches even a gradient of 20%. Riding in the cool shadow of a dense forest, you will reach the top of the mountain. Then, the trail crosses an asphalt road and continues on a stretch of flat dirt road which goes through the mountains. From 8.5 to 12.5 km, you can have fun on gentle single-track before reaching the next descent of 5 km towards Collepino. You will then reach another asphalt road which leads to Spello, a beautiful medieval village with many remains from the Roman era such as a theatre, an amphitheatre, thermal baths and the Arch of Augustus. After a few kilometres of dirt road, you will reach another asphalt road and head back to Assisi.
